We had the Glendora time trial today. I didn't do well at all. I basically tried to hold a fast pace, and exploded with about 2 kms to go. It was such a disappointment for me at that moment, that I decided to gave up and just ride to the finish. It's very frustrating to not do well, when you expect to have a good ride. I think the legs are there, but I just tried something I am not ready for, and didn't listened to my body in the race. I guess that's how it went. There's no excuses why I sucked today though. I just did...

Hopefully I have better updates from tomorrow's road race. We'll see how that one goes...

Just finished the Tour of Marietta today. Two days of racing only. After Tour of Mexico I took 3 days off the bike to get rid of the cold I got, and then I got the legs going again on Thursday. By Saturday I was racing again!. Legs were feeling good on the first day, until I crashed going around 40 kph and hit the ground really hard, and stayed there for a while... I was surprised I didn't broke my collarbone, and hip. My helmet was completely destroyed, and sunglasses :(, clothing... BUUU :(

Anyway, like any other cyclist would do, I raced today again to try and help my teammates who were doing well in the overall. I didn't felt too well, but I did my best like always, and juts finished after doing some work for my mates. We had some nice partying going on last night which was a perfect warm up for the race, and now I am just ready to see a chiropractor, get fixed, and then stay on fire for San Dimas, and Redlands.

Sorry again, but finally I found energy and time to write something about the "second half" of the Tour. Race just kept getting harder overall. Tons of transfers, and longer, and hillier stages...

Stage 5 was one of those days that make you think if you really want to be a cyclist. It was the hardest stage I've ever done on any other race by far. 225 kms with 8 mountains, and really hard pace. As the race went on in Cuernavaca to Toluca. The field just went straight on aggressive mode, and the race was ON from the start. I tried to ate as much as I could. We had more than 100 kms of climbing today. It was hot at first, but then we were so high that it got cold, and back and forth. I hanged on in the front group until around the last 30 kms of climbing were I just blew up and rode with a small group of around 8 guys to the finish 20 minutes behind!

Stage 6 came and everybody was just crushed by yesterday's stage. But still... We needed to be up at 5 am to get on a bus for 4 hours to San Miguel Allende, then race for 200 kms, and then get on another bus for another 3 hours to the next race hotel. The day ended up being the most tiring ever, since there was no recovery time. I got on a break of 4 halfway through the race that included Tyler Hamilton, Ken Hanson, and a Cuban rider, but we got caught. It all finished together at the end, after going up sierra DE lobos. I ended up going to bed until 2 am, since I was getting a small fever now.

Stage 7 came really fast the next morning again, and it was a hard 170 km race in the gutter from the start. Crosswinds all day and hard climbs. The field split apart, and luckily my legs were with me, and I made the front group, but a break got up the road that blew everything apart. Although it got back together again halfway through the race, the break still kept pulling away!. On the last climb with 15 kms to go I attacked the front group, and they caught me right at the top, and it just got harder from there until the end.

Stage 8... AHHHH!!! YEAH!!! THE END!!!!!!!!!!! The last circuit race was awesome. They closed the most busiest avenue in Mexico City for us... A wide smooth 8 km circuit, and we did like 12 laps... The race was really fast all day again. I stayed in the field most of the race. Then I tried one attack with 2 laps to go that lasted like one minute, and then just finished in the group with same time.

I am so glad this race is over now. We rode more than 1400 kms in 8 days, and I did 38 hours of racing straight. 36 in a week!!. It says 32 on the results, but they aren't counting the 10-15 kms neutral sections everyday, and riding to the Hotel after every stage sometimes for more than half an hour!. I had to deal with a cold the last two days of the race which sucked a lot. I was able to hold 42nd overall, and finished the race with no accidents.  Only 108 finishers out of 167 starters... !!! Sorry about the lack of updates, but this race just has been completely busy, and there has been barely anytime to write anything, or get on the Internet. My PC is also dying on me so... Anyway... We are halfway through now. Stage 2 was brutal. 230 kms of heat, and hard climbs. I felt bad the whole day, but I still attacked on the last climb and got caught over the top, and missed the front group by 50 meters, and had to chase with the second group finishing like 50 seconds back. Got some good TV time though, which was cool...

Stage 3 was harder for me. Bad legs the whole race, and going up a volcano twice just to finish the stage after 130 km of hard racing is not easy. I got dropped at the end of the race, and had to ride in a small group to the finish 10 minutes behind. I was really bummed, because I didn't felt good legs, and suffered way too much just to finish.

In stage 4 I felt way better. Legs finally came around, and I was up there the whole time riding well. Race was really fast today. 200 kms, and it took 80 kms for a break to stick. Hundreds of attacks non stop the whole race, With 5 km to go, I attacked solo, and thought the finish was flat. I got caught 3 kms before the finish, and suffered so much to stay with the field. The last 800 meters were like 21 % steep, so I maybe lost a couple of seconds there. I still finished, and was happy to survive another tour of mexico day, because they have all been completely exhausting.

The organization has been really good. Very nice hotels, and we are also getting really nice meals everyday. It's been definitely fun, but very hard at the same time. I am hoping for a good result on one of these stages, and try to get up to the top 30 in GC, which hopefully that happens tomorrow if I have a good one.

Now it's all about tomorrow's grueling stage. 215 kms, and more than 90 kms of climbing. It will be one for the books. So far the GC looks like this:
